CNA Classes in Alabama

If you wish to build your entry-level nursing career in the state of Alabama, you can become a certified nursing assistant because Alabama has many hospitals that can offer you immediate employment and career growth opportunities. In Alabama, nurse aide classes are OBRA-87 approved 75 hours long. An individual can complete these classes in 4-10 weeks depending upon the program providing institutions. The program classes consist of theoretical classroom instructions, lab program, and hands-on experience. The program programs are offered in schools, community colleges, trade schools, adult education centers, and technical institutes of the state. Individuals will have to complete clinical program in the state-approved health care facilities. The program is completed among the residents and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The course curriculum for the Alabama CNA classes includes general and nursing courses. The successful completion of the program program makes a candidate eligible for the state-approved certification exam.

However, prior to admission to schools and colleges for the program, individuals must complete few additional prerequisites required by the state law and program institutes. These requirements include:

  • The minimum age of the applicant should be 16 years.
  • Applicants must pass the criminal background screening.
  • The minimum educational requirement for nurse aide program is a High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • The candidates must also be free from the communicable and infectious diseases.
  • There are also program institutions that offer entrance tests. The candidates must pass these tests to be eligible to enroll in the program.
  • Many program schools and colleges also require applicants to complete orientation before enrolling for courses.

Free Program Classes

In Alabama, there are also schools and colleges that offer financial incentives in the form of scholarships, state grants, loans, and loan reimbursement schemes to needy students. The applicants can apply to these financial aids for free program classes.  There are also hospitals and nursing homes that offer free program programs. However, to be eligible for free classes, nurse aides must agree to work in these facilities for a particular period after completion of their program.
